E-mail
E-mail is the short form of electronic mail.
We send a letter or a message over the internet and it gets to the other person’s
e-mail account within seconds.
If we have an e-mail address, we can e-mail anyone else who has an e-mail
address, including government agencies and lots of different kinds of
businesses.
Once we get an e-mail account, we can store our e-mails on the internet or
store them on a computer, laptop or another internet-connected device.
If our e-mail is stored on the web, it is called webmail .
Benefits of Using E-mail
It is advantageous to use an e-mail message rather than write a letter, send a
text or make telephone call for the following reasons:
8 Accessibility : E-mails can be stored conveniently in our e-mail
program.
8 A Record : E-mail provides a record of a conversation that we
don’t think have if communicating verbally.
8 Convenience : E-mails are quicker in some instances than making
a phone call, where we might be left on hold for an
extended period of time or proceed to engage in
lengthy conversations.
