“I will,” said Birbal, “First, listen to this interesting story that I tell
you.”
And riding beside the emperor’s palanquin , he started a long and
interesting tale that held Akbar and all those listening spellbound .
Before they could realise, they had reached the end of their journey.
“We’ve reached!” exclaimed emperor Akbar. “We have reached
in such a short period of time!” He was really amazed.
“Birbal, you are really very intelligent,” said the happy emperor.
“Well, ” grinned Birbal, “You said you want the road to be
shortened. I did that.” He bowed in front of the emperor and was
awarded for his intelligence.

on their shoulders
