Gagan : Smt Kasturba Gandhi.

Teacher : Yes. Do you know, Gandhiji was one of the few Indians who

studied law in London? He returned to India in 1891 to practise.
In 1893, he took on a one-year contract to do legal work in South

Africa. Students, do you know where Gandhiji started his struggle
                                 for freedom?

Anup : He started fighting against the British from South Africa. Our S.St.
teacher told us that at that time the British controlled South

Teacher : Exactly. When he tried to claim his rights as a British subject, he

was abused and soon he saw that all Indians suffered similar
treatment. Gandhiji stayed in South Africa for 21 years working

to secure rights for Indian people.

He developed a method of abused : subjected to cruel treatment
