Pulkit and Divya are very happy. They have come to visit their grandmother in her
house. Examinations are over and it is time to have fun with Granny.
Granny called Pulkit and said, “Pulkit, will you go to Kishan Lal’s shop to buy some
things for me?”

“Of course Nani,” Pulkit said happily. clothesline : a wire/rope on which clothes
are spread to get dried
“Take this list of things and buy them
for me,” said Nani.
Both Pulkit and Divya went to Kishan
Lal’s shop. The shop was on the other side
of the road. Both children crossed the road
with care and reached Kishan Lal’s shop.
Pulkit looked at the list and said, “Uncle
we want a kilogram of sugar please.”
“Fine kids”, said the shopkeeper.
Then Pulkit said, “Uncle, a packet of
matchbox, one loaf of bread and a packet
of washing powder.”
“Here you are, forty six rupees and fifty
paisa,” said the shopkeeper.
“Pulkit, it is Nani’s birthday tomorrow,”
said Divya. “Oh yes! Should we buy
something for Nani?” asked Pulkit.
“A wonderful idea!” said Divya
excitedly.
“I think we should buy those clips for
Nani’s clothesline . Her clips are broken
and her clothes fly here and there when
the air blows,” suggested Divya.
They bought two packets of clips from
Kishan Lal’s shop and took all the things
home. suggested : gave an idea
clips : plastic objects to hold clothes
