Nouns ending in Change to plural by adding
1. most consonants add ‘s’ – hands, legs
2. s, x, sh, ch add ‘es’ – buses, churches
3. y replace y by ies – armies, babies
4. y (proceeded by vowel) add ‘s’ – days, boys
5. f, fe change (f/fe) to ves – wives, knives
6. o add ‘es’ – mangoes, heroes
7. compound words such as as ‘s’ to the first word, like passers-by
passer – by, mother-in-law mothers-in-law
Some nouns do not change at all.
