Possessive Noun and Possessive Pronoun
A possessive noun shows ownership.
Possessive nouns have an apostrophe followed by s (’s) added at the end to show that
someone owns something. If the noun ends in –s, only an apostrophe (’) is added to show
possession.
A possessive pronoun replaces a possessive adjective noun to avoid repeating information
that is already clear.
For example:
This book is my book, not your book. (sounds repetitive)
This book is mine, not yours. (sounds more natural)
A. Write a possessive noun for each phrase by adding ’s to the underlined singular noun.
1. the glasses of the prince the ___________ glasses
2. the skateboard of Rahul the ___________ skateboard
3. the blanket of the baby the ___________ blanket
4. the wrench of the plumber the ___________ wrench
5. the bicycle of the child the ___________ bicycle
6. the coffee of the mother the ___________ coffee
B. Following sentences have wrong possessive pronouns. Rewrite them after inserting correct
pronouns in the place of incorrect ones.
1. These boxes belong to the shopkeeper. These are theirs.
