Making Nests
Birds make nests to lay eggs, mostly on trees. Some birds make their nests
on the ground also. When the nest is ready the female bird lays eggs in it.
Hatching of Eggs
Either of the two partners
sits on the eggs to keep
them warm. The eggs
break open in few days
and the baby bird comes
out. The parents look after
them and feed them till
they are ready to fly.
Sounds of Bird
Birds make different kinds of sounds:
g Caw-caw: Crow g Gutar guun: Pigeon
g Kuhu-kuhu: Cuckoo g Hoot hoot: Owl
Migration of Birds
Some birds fly back and forth across the world every year. This is called
migration. There are three main reasons for birds to migrate.
g In search of food. g In order to breed.
g To avoid unfavourable weather conditions.
* Birds are the most beau ful and colourful creatures on the earth.
* All birds have feathers.
* There are two kinds of feathers-down feathers and flight feathers.
* Different birds have different kinds of beaks.
* Birds make nests to lay eggs.
* Some birds migrate every year to escape cold weather, shortage of food or to
reproduce.
