We can see plants everywhere
around us. Think, how much our life
depends on these plants. We can’t
live without them.
Plants are the life-line of our life. It consists of two parts:
Root system and Shoot system.

The part of the plant under the soil forms

Stem, leaves, buds, flowers and fruits grow

The part of a plant that is below the surface

of the earth is called root. They hold the
plant firmly to the soil and help the plant to
stand straight. They also help the plants to

Some roots store extra food and are eaten
by us. For example, carrot, radish, beetroot,
etc. There are two types of roots – taproot Parts of Plant
and fibrous root.
The roots of mangrove trees grow upwards and come out of the soil to breathe.
