The migration of people from one country to another is called international
migration. People who migrate from their own country to settle in another
country are called emigrants . These emigrants are called immigrants in the
country where they settle.

The Changes in Family Structure

During earlier times, the women used to stay at home and do all the

household chores, like cooking, cleaning, washing and taking care of
children. It was only men who went out to work and earn money.

Times have changed now. Women also work in offices today. Girls are
working in almost all the fields today.

Reasons for Changes

People have to move out of their homes or away from their families for

several reasons.
g For work.

g When a girl gets married, she goes to her husband’s house.

g For higher education.

These things bring changes in one’s lifestyle.

* The movement of people from one place to another, with an intention to
stay in the new place, is called migration.
* The people who migrate are called migrants.
* The migration of people from one country to another is called international

migration.
* People who migrate from their own country to settle in another country are
called emigrants.
