Computer is an amazing machine. We are living in

the computer age today and most of our day to
day activities cannot be accomplised without using

             computers. Sometimes knowingly and sometimes
             unknowingly we use computers.

Computer has become an indispensable and

multipurpose tool. We are breathing in the
computer age and gradually computer has become such a desire and necessity

of life that it is difficult to imagine life without it.

Early man relied on counting on his fingers and toes. He also used sticks and
stones as markers. Later, notched sticks and knotted cords were used for

computing. Finally, came symbols written on hides, parchment and later paper.
Man invents the concept of number, then invents devices to help keep up with
             the numbers of his possession.

Let us read how computer became an indispensable part of our life.
             Abacus

The history of computing devices starts from about 5000 years ago in Babylonia
(Mesopotamia), with the birth of the abacus, a wooden rack holding two

horizontal wires with beads strung on them.

It was the first device used for counting and
calculating. It is made of a wooden frame,

metal rods and wooden beads. It takes a great
deal of time and practice to learn how to
master the use of an abacus. An abacist is a

person who is experienced in using an abacus.
