Punctuation
Some commonly used punctuation marks are capital letter, full stop, question
mark, mark of exclamation, comma, inverted commas and the apostrophe.
Capital letter is written at the beginning of every new sentence and with proper
nouns. (My hometown is Lucknow.)
Full stop (.) is used at the end of the sentence. (He gave me a pen.)
Question mark (?) is used with interrogative sentences. (Has he given me a pen?)
Exclamation (!) is used with exclamatory sentences. (Wow, he gave you his pen!)
Comma (,) is used to separate two or more words or sentences.
(I have a red, blue and a green pen.)
Inverted commas (“__”) or quotation marks are used to show some direct words of
a speaker.
(He said, “I will give you my pen.”)
Apostrophe (’) is used to show possession or belonging. (This is Raghu’s pen.)
