Food helps us to keep ourselves healthy and strong. Milk, roti, dal,
rice and curd help our body to grow. They make our bones and
muscles strong.
Food like vegetables and fruits can be eaten raw. Whereas, some
food items like dal and rice have to be cooked before eating.
Plants give us fruits, grains, pulses and vegetables. People who eat
fruits, vegetables, milk and milk products are called vegetarian.
Milk is called a
complete food.
Animals give us milk, eggs, meat, fish, cheese, curd and other dairy
products. We get different types oils from both plants and animals.
People who eat fish, egg and meat are called non-vegetarian.
Different Kinds of Food
We eat many different kinds of food. These food items helps us in
different ways.
Some food gives us energy
We use energy to work and play and to do other activities. Some
food items such as butter, potato, rice, sugar, bread, sweets,
jaggery, etc. give us energy.
