Manoj is a doctor. He treats the sick people.
                                                         He uses a stethoscope, thermometer, etc. to

                                                         check  the  patients.  He  diagnoses  various
                                                         diseases  and  prescribes  medicines.  Both  his
                                                         parents were famous doctors and so is he.

              Besides these, there are many other people whose work is very important for

              us.

              g        A teacher  teaches in the school.

              g    A farmer grows food grains.

              g    An   architect makes designs of buildings.


              g    A driver     drives a vehicle.





               There must be many people in your neighbourhood who work as cobbler, potter,
               mechanic, electrician, milkman, washerman, driver, etc. Take an interview of any
               one of them.

               You can frame such questions.

               2.  What work do you do?                                         ___________________________
               3.  Whom did you learn this skill from?                          ___________________________

               4.  Do you  like your work?                                      ___________________________
               5.  How many hours do you work everyday?                         ___________________________

               6.  Are you able to earn enough?                                 ___________________________



              Gender and Work

              In the past, women were not encouraged to go to schools and colleges. They
              were  also not allowed to take  up a job.  However,  time  has changed now.
