Study of earthquakes is called seismology.

What should we do if there is an earthquake?

g Do not stand near windows, mirrors, hanging pots during or
                   immediately after an earthquake.

g Stay away from electric poles and trees.

g Do not enter a building immediately after the earthquake stops.

g Keep calm. Walk out of the building and move to an open area.
              Volcanic Eruption

A volcano occurs when hot molten rocks
under the earth’s surface are forced out

from the earth’s crust. The molten rock is
called lava . The hot lava causes damage to

              everything around it.
              Cyclone Volcano

              A fast-moving, violent and destructive

              wind-storm is called a cyclone . Cyclones
are very common in the coastal regions of

India. The strong wind and rain causes loss
              to our life and property.

What should we do in case of a cyclone?

g Listen regularly to the weather
                                                                                            Cyclone
forecast, if you live near a coastal area.

              g Keep a first-aid kit ready.
g Be careful about snake and insect bites.

g Check for gas leaks after the cyclone.

Our neighbouring country, Bangladesh, is very prone to cyclones.
