Let’s us read about the Mangalyaan and its success.

            1. Mangalyaan 2 is India’s second Interplanetary Mission planned for launch to Mars
by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in 2020.
            2. On 24th September 2015, ISRO released its Mars Atlas, a 120 page scientific atlas
containing images and data from the Mangalyaan’s first year in Mars’ Orbit.

            3. The total cost of this mission was approximately `450 crores (approx) making it the
least-expensive and most cost-effective Mars Mission till date.
            4. The Mars Orbiter Mission Space Probe was launched by the Indian Space Research

Organisation (ISRO) from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, Andhra
Pradesh using a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket on 5th November,

            5. India is the first Asian nation to reach Mars’ orbit and the first nation in the world to
do so in its first attempt. The mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) team won the US-based
National Space Society’s 2015 Space Pioneer Award in the science and engineering
                 category.
