             Verbs are the words which are used to tell about the action or movement

             of a person, a thing or an animal.



                   Draw two lines under each verb. Circle each direct object.

                   1.  We ate dinner earlier than usual.
                   2.  Does Rahul like his new home?

                   3.  Our family took a trip to Arizona last year.

                   4.  Pam liked my new dress.
                   5.  Keshmira wrote a great speech for the assembly.

                   6.  I left my algebra book in my locker.

                   7.  Shari painted many pictures in art class.
                   8.  I lost my favourite earrings at track practice.







             Types of Verbs

             There are three types of verbs. They are:

                   Transitive Verb              Intransitive Verb              Incomplete Verb

             G  A transitive verb     shows an action which passes over from the subject to an object.
                  Read the following examples:

                       1.  The thief broke     the window.
                       2.  Gunjan gave      him a pen.

                  There can be two types of objects with Transitive Verbs          .
                      ·  Direct Object:   It is a noun or a pronoun that directly

                       receives the action denoted by the verb in a sentence.
                       Read the following example:
                            Rita washed her car    .

                                           direct object
                            It answers the question    ‘What?’–
