We can form all other parts of a verb with these three main parts of the verb.
Verbs can be strong verbs or weak verbs . Let us discuss about them.
1. Strong Verbs: They are the verbs that form their past tense by changing the inside
vowel(s) of their present tense.
Read the following examples:
Drink Drank Sit Sat
Fall Fell Win Won
2. Weak Verbs: They are the verbs that form their past tense by adding -ed , or to -d -t
the present.
Read the following examples:
Show Showed Build Built
Smell Smelt Dream Dreamt
There are some irregular verbs. They form their past tense by using different words.
They do not follow any set of rules.

Think Thought
Such verbs are also called weak verbs . In addition to adding -ed, -d or -t at the end
of the verb, the inside vowel has also changed.
We will now look at the list of strong verbs and weak verbs.
