We will now learn how to use the verb have in present tense.

             G  Have can be used as an auxiliary verb          .

                  Read the following example:

                       They have gone      to the mall.

             G  Have can be used as a main verb             also. It expresses possession when it is used as a
                  main verb.

                  Read the following example:
                       I have  a blue shirt.


             G  Sometimes, we use has/have got           instead of has/have   .
                  Read the following examples:

                       1.  We have      some time.                       2.  She has    a cat.

                            We have got     some time                         She has got   a cat.

             The forms of have      are as follows:


                      Positive                                  Negative                             Interrogative

               I have         I’ve        I have not         I’ve no / I haven’t any                  have I?

               we have        we’ve       we have not        we’ve no / we haven’t any                have we?
               you have       you’ve      you have not       you’ve no / you haven’t any              have you?

               he has         he’s        he has not         he’s no / he hasn’t any                  has he?
               she has        she’s       she has not        she’s no / she hasn’t any                has she?

               it has         it’s        it has not         it’s no / it hasn’t any                  has it?

               they have      they’ve     they have not      they’ve no / they haven’t any            have they?


             We can frame questions using ‘have’ in two ways:
             1.  Have you (got)     any pen?            or

                  Do you have     any pen?

             2.  Has he (got)    some money?            or

                  Does he has     some money?

             Negative Interrogative forms are –
             Have I not?, haven’t I?, have you not?, haven’t you?, don’t you have?

             We will now learn the forms of Simple Present Tense           .
