G  Prepositions of Place       is used to express the position or location of one thing with
                  another –
                      ·  At, In

                       1.  At   has the idea of a point. It is used with villages, small towns.

                            In has the idea of a larger area and is used while speaking of bigger towns,
                            states, countries.
                            Read the following examples:

                                 at Dispur   in Assam,   at Shillong  in Meghalay,    in the middle,    in a class,  in
                                 a shop, etc.

                       2.  At    conveys  the  idea  of  general  neighbourhood.  In          conveys  the  idea  of
                            something contained.

                            Read the following examples:
                                 1.  Look   the peacock.at

                                 2.  The books are   the bag.in

                  ·    Between, Among
                       Between     is used with two persons or things. Among         is used with more than two.

                       Read the following examples:
                       1.  My house is between        the church and the park.

                       2.  Distribute these toffees among        the children.

                  ·    On, Upon

                       Both on    and upon     can be used while speaking of things at rest. Upon              is also
                       used with things in motion.

                       Read the following examples:
                            1.  The picture on      the wall is very beautiful.

                            2.  The crown upon        the bug’s head is made of gold.

                  ·    Above, Over
                       Both above     and over   mean higher than. Sometimes, either of them can be used.

                       Read the following examples:
                            1.  There is a ceiling above      you.

                            2.  He is walking over      the bridge.

                  ·    Below, Under

                       Both below     and under    mean lower than. Sometimes, we can use either of them.
