                     ·  Co-ordinating Conjunctions of Choice

                       They express a choice between two alternatives. They are –
                       or, either ...... or, neither ...... nor, otherwise, else

                       Read the following examples:

                            1.  She might go for swimming   for a dance.or
                            2.  Either   keep quiet   leave the library.or

                            3.  He is neither    hard working nor      honest.
                            4.  Study well, otherwise      you will fail.

                            5.  Study well, else     you will fail.

                     ·  Co-ordinating Conjunctions of Contrast

                       They express opposition or contrast between two statements. They are –
                       but, nevertheless, only, still, yet, whereas, while
                       Read the following examples:

                            1.  He ran fast but     he could not catch the bus.

                            2.  He was sick nevertheless       he attended the meeting.
                            3.  I am feeling well, only     I am tired.
                            4.  He is weak still    he is brave.

                            5.  Religious people are respected while         rich people are envied.

                     ·  Co-ordinating Conjunctions of Reasoning

                       They are used when one statement or fact is inferred from another. They are –
                       For

                       Vikram was eager to meet everyone in his school for            he was new to the school.

             G  Subordinating  Conjunctions           are  used  to  join  two  statements,  one  of  which  is
                  dependent on the other.
                     ·  Subordinating Conjunctions Introducing Noun Clauses

                       that, if, whether
                       Read the following examples:

                            1.  We are afraid that      we will not win the match.
                            2.  I think it seems fine whether       to go or not.

                            3.  Please let me know   you could come to the party.if
