             Auxiliaries  are  helping  verbs.  They  join  the  main  verb  to  form  tenses,

             voices and moods.




                   Circle the modal verbs in each sentence given below.
                   1.  He shall bring the food very soon.

                   2.  We can definitely win the championship.

                   3.  I can speak a little Spanish.

                   4.  You should stop smoking because it is bad for you.

                   5.  May I sit down now?

                   6.  I must go now.

             Auxiliaries can be Primary Auxiliaries      or Modal Auxiliaries    .

             G  Primary  Auxiliaries       change  their  forms  according  to          Modals are followed by a

                  speaker. They do not change according to the number and person of the subject.
                  They are explained in detail as follows:

                  1.  Will: It is used in the second and the third persons to express future tense. It can
                       be  used  with  the  first  person  to  express  willingness,  promise,  determination,

                       intention and threat.
