animals

i All the living organisms including plants need nutrition.
i Healthy food is one of the most important parts in leading a healthy life.
i Important components of food are carbohydrate, fat, vitamins, minerals and proteins.
i The term photosynthesis is made up of two words namely ‘photo’ means light and
‘synthesis’ means to combine.
i There are two modes of nutrition—autotrophic nutrition and heterotrophic nutrition.
i Heterotrophic plants do not have the capacity to produce enough food to sustain them.
i Mushroom, yeast, moulds, etc. are the examples of saprohytes; cuscuta is the example of
parasite; algae and fungi are the examples symbiotic organisms.
i Pitcher plants, sundew, venus flytrap and bladder wort are the examples of insectivorous
plants.
