EEPROM
Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory
(EEPROM) chips are not required to be removed, to be
erased or rewritten. These chips do not require to be erased
altogether and specific portion of it can be easily altered.
Additional dedicated equipments are also not required to
change the content of the EEPROM chips. These chips are
erased and rewritten with the help of electric charge.

Secondary Memory
Secondary memory is a type of memory stored externally in a storage medium and is
permanent in nature. This is where all the data and programs are saved for lengthy
periods of time. The hard drive is a good example of a secondary memory device,
which has a huge storage capacity as compared to the computer’s main memory.
Magnetic disks, magnetic tapes, SSDs and USB memory drives are all examples of
secondary memory media.
Types of Secondary Memory
Magnetic Disk
The magnetic disk is flat, circular platter with metallic
coating that is rotated beneath read/write heads. It is a
random access device; read/write head can be moved
to any location on the platter.

DVD-ROM
A DVD-ROM, a type of recordable DVD, has a storage
capacity of usually 4.1 GB. There is also an 8.54 GB
dual-layer version called DVD-R DL .
