20 Insects and Bugs

Insects are everywhere. In fact, insects are the most numerous

creatures on the earth. They live on all of the continents of the

world except Antarctica.

Let us read to know about some special insects.

Honey bees gather nectar from two million flowers to
make one pound of honey.

Earthworms are known as the farmer’s friends.
They are helpful insects of fields. They aerate

the soil with their digging. This enriches the soil
with their waste products. They make the soil fit
for growing healthy plants.

Head lice can survive on a

human host for approximately

30 days. Generally, they cannot
survive longer than 24 hours
Spiders are of different types. All of them
off the host.
have eight legs. They produce silk which is

used by them to make webs and traps.
