22 Traditional Festivals
No matter where you go around the globe, everybody loves to
celebrate. And when it comes to celebration, festivals offer
something for everyone.
Let us know about some traditional festivals of the world.
1. Carnival
Brazil’s most popular and festive holiday is Carnival. Each
spring, on the Saturday before Ash Wednesday, the streets
of Brazil’s largest city, Rio de Janeiro, come alive with
wild parties, festivals and glamorous balls.
2. Dia de los Muertos
This festival is celebrated on November 1st every year by
Mexicans. This festival is also known as ‘The Day of the
Dead’. It is a day to remember all those who have passed
away.
3. Esala Perahera Every July or August, thousands of Sri Lankans travel to
the hill city of Kandy to watch dancers, acrobats,
drummers, whip crackers, flame throwers and more than
100 elegantly decorated elephants parade through the
streets during Esala Perahera. This is a 10-day festival in
honour of the country’s most prized possesion, the Tooth
Relic of Lord Buddha.
4. Running of the Bulls
This festival is held in Pamplona, Spain every year from
July 6 to 14. It is a Spanish tradition in which bulls chase
the people who run for their safety.
