The change of a sentence from one structure to another without altering its meaning is
             called transformation .

             Read the following examples:
                  1. Is he not honest? (interrogative)

                  2. He is honest. (assertive – affirmative)
                  3. He is not honest. (assertive – negative)

All the three sentences mentioned above express the same meaning, but are written in
             three different forms.

Let us now learn to interchange exclamatory sentences and assertive sentences.
When an exclamatory sentence is changed into an assertive sentence, the normal word

order is restored. Since these sentences express strong emotions and feelings, the words
suggestive of the initial force of the sentence are added .
             Read the following examples:

                  1. Exclamatory : How kind of you to assist him!
Assertive : It is very kind of you to assist him.

                                                                  109
