                       Mother said, “Keep your room neat and clean.”

             Exclamation Mark (!)

             G  It is used after interjections, exclamatory sentences and phrases.
                  Read the following examples:

                       1.  How brave he is!                            2.  What an excellent idea!

             Interrogation Mark (?)

             G  It is placed at the end of an interrogative sentence.
                  Read the following examples:

                       1.  What do you want?                           2.  How do you do?

             Capital Letters

             G A capital letter is used to begin.
                     ·  every new sentence

                       For example:       Our holiday will begin next week.

                     ·  proper nouns and adjectives formed from them.
                       For example:       We live in Delhi.

                     ·  every new line of a poem.
                       For example:       On a stone chair in the market place.

                     ·  the first word of a direct quotation.

                       For example:       Ramesh said, “Tea is grown in Assam”.
             G The person I and the word Oh are always written in the capital.









             A.  Put commas wherever necessary in the following sentences.
                  1.  The birds the flowers the buds and the sunshine proclaim the coming of spring.

                  2.  She was young beautiful kind and intelligent.

                  3.  He said “Hello my name is Nikhil”.
                  4.  No she isn’t  like other girls.

                  5.  Have a good day Tom?
                  6.  Don’t be afraid my friend I won’t harm you.
