Subtraction of Hours, Minutes and Seconds (without borrowing)

Example : Subtract 3 hours 15 minutes 6 seconds from 7 hours 19 minutes 28

seconds.
Solution : Step 1 : Write hours, minutes and seconds columnwise.

Step 2 : Subtract seconds column.

28 seconds – 6 seconds Hours Minutes Seconds

= 22 seconds 7 19 2 8

Step 3 : Subtract minutes column. – 3 15 6
19 minutes – 15 minutes 4 hrs. 04 min. 2 2 sec.

= 04 minutes

Step 4 : Now, subtract hours column.

7 hours – 3 hours = 4 hours
We get, 4 hours 04 minutes 22 seconds.

Subtraction of Hours, Minutes and Seconds (with borrowing)

Example : Subtract 5 hours 51 minutes 15 seconds from 15 hours 48 minutes
45 seconds.

Solution : Step 1 : Write hours, minutes and seconds columnwise.

Step 2 : Subtract seconds column.
