                                                                    During  the  sixteenth  and  seventeenth  centuries
                                                                    landscaped  Mughal  gardens  were  developed  at
                                                                    Agra,  Delhi,  Pinjore  near  Shimla,  Srinagar
                                                                    (Shalimar and Nishat) in Kashmir. Jahangir and
                                                                    Nur  Jahan  popularised  char-chinar  trees  in  the
                                                                    four  corners  of  the  garden.  These  trees  were
                                                                    obtained  from  Persia.  They  also  introduced  the
                                                                    cypress  and  willow  trees  from  China.  Mughal
                                                                    emperors had also scented rose and other bushes
                                                                    in these gardens.
