2 2 2 Mother and Their Babies
H Why are Babies Born? H Adoption
Have you seen a newborn baby—
where did she/he come from?
Do you know of people who are
looking after an adopted child?
Jenniefer is very happy today. Her aunt has just told her about her baby sister.
The newborn baby and Jenniefer’s. mother and father are in the hospital.
Jenniefer asked her aunt where her little sister came from. Her aunt told her
that babies come from inside their mother’s body. The baby grows inside its
mother’s womb. A tube joins the baby to its mother and carries oxygen,
food and liquid from the mother’s body to the baby. The mother can feel the
baby kicking and wriggling inside. After growing there for about nine
months, babies are big enough to come into the outside world. The
newborn baby may look like his/her father, mother or a combination of both.
Why are Babies Born?
Animals and human beings produce young ones of their own kind. They give
birth or lay eggs so that their kind does not die out completely. The process
by which the living beings give birth to offspring of their own kind is called
reproduction. The process of reproduction carries forward the breeds of all
kind of animals and plants, as the older one keeps on dying.
