Amphibians
Frogs and toads are amphibians that live both in water and on land. They
breathe with the help of their moist skin when in water.
The young ones of frogs are called
tadpoles. They look like fish and breathe
with the help of gills.
Eels
Eels also live in water. They look like
snakes.
Sea dragons are all fish that look like
floating weeds. They swim with the help

Mosquitoes and Malaria
Small insects moving in stagnant water can be seen
easily. These are larva of mosquitoes as mosquitoes
breed on stagnant water.
Mosquitoes are parasitic insects that feed on animal
and human blood. Female anopheles mosquito
carries the protozoa of malaria. When this mosquito
bites a person suffering from malaria, the protozoa
are sucked up with the blood. When this mosquito bites
a healthy person, the protozoa are
injected into the healthy person’s body
