Simple Present Tense
If sentences are in simple present tense, we use either do not or does not with the
root form of the verb to make it negative sentence.
Read the following example:
I help the poor people.
We use do not with , I we , you ,
I do not help the poor people. they and other plural subjects.
We use does not with , he she , it
Simple Past Tense
and other singular subjects .
If sentences are in simple past tense, we use did
not with the root form of the verb to make it
negative sentence.
Read the following example:
Manik ate pizza.
We sometimes use short forms like –
Manik did not eat pizza.
I am not - I’m not
Imperative Sentence should not - shouldn’t
do not - don’t
In sentences that give commands,
are not - aren’t
we put do not in the beginning of
is not - isn’t
the sentence. does not - doesn’t
Read the following example: was not - wasn’t
did not - didn’t
Open the window.
Do not open the window.
