Predicate

             That part of the sentence which says something about the subject is the predicate                     .

             Read the following example:

             G     Roma goes to church every Sunday.

             In the above sentence, the word Roma                 is the subject   , and goes to church every
             Sunday is the     predicate.

                   Roma  goes to church every Sunday.

                   Subject               Predicate
             A  simple  predicate  (or  verb)  describes  the  action  or  condition  of  the  subject  or

             subjects in a sentences.
             Read the following example:

             1.  Diana sketched       .

             2.  Always support        each other.

             3.  Rarely complains        about snow.









             A.  Circle  the  subject        and  underline  the  predicate           of  each  sentence  given
                   below.

                   1.  My mother stitched a new frock.

                   2.  The children built a sand castle.
