             An article is used before a noun to show whether it refers to something

             specific or not. It is used to modify or describe a noun like adjectives.






                             Look, I have a
                             new uniform.
                                                                                             I have the
                                                                                             magic box.

                            I have an
                           inkpot, too.
                                                                                           I can show
                                                                                          you   magic.a





















             ‘A’ and ‘An’ are called Indefinite Articles      , because they do not point out any definite or
             particular person or thing.
             They are always used with countable nouns in singular number.

             Uses of A

             G It is used before a word beginning with a consonant.

                  Read the following examples:
                       a book, a wall, a room, a pen, a pencil, a car, etc.

             G  It is used before vowels that have a sound of ‘yoo’.

                  Read the following examples:

                       a useful book, a university, a European, a union, etc.
