                 d. The time is _________ minutes past_________ .

It is written as _________ .

            Using a.m. and p.m.

We know that the period from one midnight to next midnight is called a
day. The hour hand completes two rounds on the dial in a day. It means it

takes 24 hours to complete a day. Thus, the clock shows the same time twice

a day. See the figures of a clock.

The time is 6 o’clock. So, how do we know whether

it is 6 in the morning or 6 in the evening ?

The time from 12 midnight to 12 noon is called a.m. and the time from 12

noon to 12 midnight is called p.m.

                   The full form of a.m. is ante-meridian and p.m. is post-meridian .

Instead of writing 12 a.m. or 12 p.m. We write 12 noon or 12 midnight.

                                                             24 hours

                                                  a.m. 12 p.m.
