Addition means putting things or numbers together.

            Example : Add 6428 and 1361.

Solution : Write the numbers in the columns and follow the given steps :

Step 1 : Adding ones Step 2 : Adding tens

                            TH H T O TH H T O

                             6 4 2 8 6 4 2 8

                        + 1 3 6 1 + 1 3 6 1

                                             9 8 9

Step 3 : Adding hundreds Step 4 : Adding thousands

                            TH H T O TH H T O

                             6 4 2 8 6 4 2 8

                        + 1 3 6 1 + 1 3 6 1
                                  7 8 9 7 7 8 9
