P. 66
Objective :
To build the skill of dividing by multiples of 10 (up to 30).
Materials Required :
A 10 × 10 square grid game-chart, counters of different colours and number
cards showing multiples of 10 (up to 30).
10 20 30
Number Cards
Preparation :
Students can play in pairs with one game-chart, two counters and one set of
number cards.
Steps :
1. One student writes any three-digit number of his choice in the ‘Start’ box and
fills the boxes with consecutive numbers horizontally till the end box. Both
the counters are placed on the start box. The number cards are mixed and
turned over.
2. The partner picks a number card (say 20), divides the first number in the
game chart say (175) by that number and finds the quotient and the
remainder.
3. The quotient is ignored. The student then moves the same number of places
as the remainder (i.e. from 175 to 180 as the remainder is 5 in this case.)
4. Now, it is the first student’s turn to pick a card and repeat the above steps.
5. The game continues till one student either reaches the end box or goes
beyond it.
