Example : Mark baked 195 cookies and packed them equally into 13
packets. How many cookies did Mark put in each packet ?

Solution : Total number of cookies = 195
                                                                                                             1 5
                             Number of packets = 13
                                                                                                     13 1 9 5

To find how many cookies did Mark put in – 1 3

each packet, divide the total number of 6 5
cookies by the number of packets.
                                                                                                            – 6 5
                             So, divide 195 by 13.
                                                                                                                 0

Therefore, Mark put 15 cookies in each packet.

Example : Nancy needs 5 oranges to make a glass of orange juice. If

Nancy has 250 oranges, how many glasses of orange juice can
                              she make ?

Solution : Total number of oranges = 250

Number of oranges she needs to make a glass of orange juice
                              = 5

                                                                                                               5 0
To find how many glasses of orange juice
                                                                                                         5 2 5 0
can Nancy make, divide the total number
                                                                                                           – 2 5 0
of oranges by the number of oranges
needed for each glass of orange juice. 0

                            So, divide 250 by 5.

Therefore, Nancy can make 50 glasses of orange juice.
