7. There were 8975 bags of rice in a godown. Due to earthquake in Gujarat, 75 trucks loaded
with equal number of bags, were sent there as relief. How many bags of rice were loaded

in each truck and how many were left in the godown ?
8. 15675 cartons of apples are loaded equally in 19 trucks. How many cartons are there in
each truck ?

9. The product of two numbers is 35640. If one of them is 216, find the other number.

Addition of Large Numbers

To add the given numbers, you must take the following steps :

« If the numbers are not given in columns, you must arrange them in columns
according to the place of each digit.

(Ones under ones, tens under tens, hundreds under hundreds, thousands under
thousands and so on).

« You must start adding from ones place taking the carry over, if any, to the next place
to the left and continue the process till you have added the digits in all the places.

Example : Add 856219 and 215963.

Solution :

+ 2 1 5 9 6 3

1 0 7 2 1 8 2 The sum is 1072182.

Example : Find the sum of 8529635; 1929457; 1238345 and 43162.
