Word Problems
Example : A milk-dairy produces 2554564 litres of milk everyday. It supplies 1562546
litres of milk to a milk depot and the rest to the market. How much milk is
supplied to the market in all ?
Solution : Milk produces = 2554564 litres

Milk supplied to a milk depot = 1562546 litres – 1 5 6 2 5 4 6
Milk supplied to market = 2554564 – 1562546 0 9 9 2 0 1 8
= 992018 litres
Example : There are 6367561 bags of wheat and rice together in the grain stock. The
wheat bags are counted as 347684 in number. Find the number of rice bags.
Solution : Total number of bags = 6367561
Number of wheats bags = 347684 6 3 6 7 5 6 1
Number of rice bags = 6367561 – 347684 – 3 4 7 6 8 4
= 6019877 6 0 1 9 8 7 7
\ 6019877 rice bags are there.
