Example : Divide 45948 by 39 and find the quotient and the remainder.
Solution : 1178 Verification :
39 4 5 9 4 8 Dividend = Quotient × Divisor + Remainder
– 3 9 45948 = 1178 × 39 + 6

45948 = 45948
– 3 9
3 0 4 Hence, proved.
