The Prime Minister of India hoists the
National Flag at the Red Fort in Delhi. He/she
also addresses the people of the country.
We sing our national anthem on this day and
remember the sacrifices of our freedom
fighters.
Republic Day
It is celebrated on 26th January. India became republic on this day
in 1950.
The main celebration of Republic Day is
held at Rajpath in New Delhi before the
President of India. A proper parade
takes place at Rajpath by the armed
forces. The President of India, who is
the Commander-in-chief of the armed forces takes the salute. This is
followed by the tableaux from different states and cultural dances
by school children.
The President of India takes the salute of the parade. Bravery
awards are also given to the children. The government buildings are
beautifully decorated with lights.
Gandhi Jayanti
It is celebrated on 2nd october every year. It is
the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi who is also
known as the “Father of the Nation”.
On this day, leaders offer flowers at
his Samadhi at Raj Ghat in New Delhi. On 2nd October
we also celebrate the birthday of our second Prime
Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
We should celebrate each and every festival happily.
