crackers. The Hindu business year starts on
Diwali.

Gurpurab
The Sikhs celebrate the birthdays of
their ten Gurus as Gurpurab . Guru
Granth Sahib, the holy book of the
Sikhs, is taken out in a huge
procession. Food and other eatables
are distributed among the poors.
The Sikhs go to Gurudwaras to listen
to Gurubani. They eat from a
common kitchen called Langar .

Id-ul-Fitr
Id-ul-Fitr is the most important
festival of Muslims. Eid comes after
the holy month of Ramazan. The
Muslims keep fast during this month.
On Eid, people wear new clothes and
offer Namaz in Mosques. They give
alms to poors and exchange
greetings saying “Eid Mubarak”.
Sewain, a special sweet dish, is
prepared on this day.
