Some animals like cows and buffaloes swallow
their food without chewing it. Later, they bring
it back to the mouth and chew it properly. This
is called chewing the cud.
Flesh-eating animals or carnivores like lion,
tiger, etc. have sharp front teeth to tear the
flesh of animals. Their canines help them to grip
into the flesh and tear it.

Snakes have teeth but they do not chew their food. They just swallow it.
Lizards and frogs do
not have teeth. They
have a long sticky
tongue that catches
flies and
mosquitoes. They
just catch and
swallow their food
as whole.
Frog catches its food with its sticky tongue.
* Tongue is the organ of taste.
* Teeth are used for chewing, biting, tearing and cutting the food.
* We have two sets of teeth in our lifetime – milk teeth and permanent teeth.
* There are four types of teeth – incisors, canines, premolars and molars.
* To keep our teeth healthy, we should visit a dentist regularly, do flossing,
take proper diet and brush twice a day.
* We taste with our tongue. The tongue has different taste buds.
