The beaks and claws of birds tell

us a lot about the kind of food they
eat and how they get their food.
Let us study about the same.

Birds have beak which they use for different purposes. The beaks are also
called bills. Different birds have different kinds of beaks. It helps them in

taking food, making nest, and feeding their young ones. They also fight with
their enemies using their beaks. They even use their beaks to clean their
feathers. They do so by applying oil on their feathers from their oil glands.
              This is called preening.

              Types of Beaks

              Cracker Beak

Birds like sparrows and pigeons have a short,
thick and cone-shaped beak to crack open

              seeds and nuts. Sparrow’s Beak

                                                      Shredder Beak

Birds like hawks, eagles and owls have a sharp,
strong and hooked beak to tear or shred flesh.
