People can collect mud, stones, leaves,
bamboo, etc. from their surroundings
without spending any money.
Now-a-days, some houses in rural areas are
constructed with better materials like bricks
and cement. These houses can withstand
strong winds and rain. These are called

Rich people in villages live in big pucca
houses known as havelis. They are made
up of bricks, stones, clay, tiles and thick,
heavy floors. The roofs are supported with
strong wooden beams. Unlike huts, they
have many big spacious rooms. There is an
aangan or courtyard in the middle of the
haveli.

Houses in Urban Areas
All the houses in urban areas are pucca
houses. These are made up of bricks,
iron and steel, cement, tiles, glass and
metals. They are very durable and
strong houses.
Multi-Storey Buildings
Now-a-days, cities are occupied by
many multi-storey buildings. These are
tall buildings with a number of floors.
Each floor has a number of flats.
