3. A baby giraffe was 36 cm tall. Another young giraffe in the enclosure was

100 cm tall. How much shorter was the baby giraffe ?
            4. Jessica is measuring two line segments. The first line segment is 30 cm long.

The second line segment is 50 cm long. How long are the two line segments
                 together ?

            5. The flag pole outside the school is 12 m tall. But, the school decided to change
it to a taller flag pole that is 14 m tall. How much taller is the new flag pole ?

            6. Some workers are paving a dirt road. The dirt road is 169 m long and the

workers finished paving 105 m of the dirt road. What is the length of the
section of the dirt road that is not paved ?
              Measurement of Weight

There are many objects around us which

are very heavy, such as a table, a sofa, a car
            and a truck.

We can measure the weight of all sorts of

objects (small and large). We need a
standard unit for this task. This international standard unit to measure

            weight is gram.

The standard weights in common use are the following :

                                                                                             500 g
                                                                                             500 g
                                                                     200 g
                                                                     200 g
                                             100 g 200 g 500 g
                                             100 g
                                             100 g

                           50 g
                                                                                            KG
                                                                                            KG
                                                                KG
                                                                KG
                                    1 1 1 KG 2 2 2 KG 5 5 5 KG
                                      KG
                                      KG
              Conversion of Weight

            Conversion of Grams into Kilograms

Example : Convert 45289 gram into kilograms.

            Solution : 1 g = 1 ÷ 1000 kg

                                     = 45289 ÷ 1000 kg

                                     = 45 kg 289 g
