Expanded Form of Decimals
In expanded form of decimal fractions, we will learn how to read and write the decimal
numbers.
Example : a. 591.2 = 5 hundreds + 9 tens + 1 one + 2 tenths

= 500 + 90 + 1 +

b. 2476.74 = 2 thousands + 4 hundreds + 7 tens + 6 ones + 7 tenths +
4 hundredths

When integral part or decimal part is missing, substitute it with 0, i.e., 0.25 or 25.0
