                                  AHOMS
             The Ahoms were a tribal community who estab-
             lished  a  kingdom  in  the  region  of  present-day
             Assam.  The  name  ‘Assam’  is  probably  derived
             from the word ‘Ahoms’.

             been China. From there they migrated to Burma
             (now  Myanmar).  In  the  thirteenth  century,  they
