function of the seed is to give
rise to a new plant.
Let us discuss, how plants
reproduce.
Like all living beings, plants also produce their own kind. Let us take a look
at how young plants are produced and how they grow.
Seeds
Fruits are very important parts of a plant because they produce seeds. Seeds
are usually found inside the fruit. Some fruits have only one seed. Some
fruits may have few seeds and some have many seeds.
Papaya has many seeds. Mango has one seed. Orange has few seeds.
Spores
Some plants like ferns and mosses do not bear
flowers. So, they do not have seeds. They grow new
plants from spores. When spores fall on the soil,
Ferns grow from spores. they grow into a new plant.
